Structured FAQ

A structured FAQ is a set of question and answer pairs marked with schema.org’s FAQPage type. It is the format answering systems reuse most readily, because the question declares the intent and the answer is already short and self-contained.

Why it matters

An assistant has to produce a compact answer. A well-written FAQ hands it over ready-made, and citing it costs far less than summarising an article.

In practice

  • Write the question the way a person would ask it, not as a marketing headline.
  • Answer in two or three sentences, without referring to other parts of the page.
  • Do not repeat the same answer across different pages.
  • Mark it up as FAQPage, otherwise it stays text like everything else.
