Choice prompt

A choice prompt is the question a person asks an artificial intelligence about which supplier, product or company to choose. It has a typical shape: “which is the best…”, “who do you recommend for…”, “who should I go to for…”.

Why it matters

These are the questions that come right before a purchase, and therefore the only ones that matter commercially. Measuring visibility on generic questions says little; measuring it on choice prompts says everything.

In practice

  • Reconstruct the real questions of the industry, in customers’ words.
  • Include the geographic variable when the service is local.
  • Keep the list stable over time, so comparison is possible.
  • Separate informational questions from choice questions: they behave differently.
